Community Service

For 20 plus years Chapter 20 has devoted their efforts in supporting our community, local Veterans, and Veterans agencies. Chapter 20 also extends a helping hand to many charitable organizations that focus on the well being of our children. Under the guidelines set by the Chapter, and the Board of Directors, our numerous donations, and volunteer support staff provide services that benefit Veterans, and their families. Some of the organizations that Chapter 20 is a fervent benefactor of are:

  • Veterans Outreach Center
  • Pirate Toy Fund
  • Veterans Emergency Relief Fund
  • Special Olympics
  • Canandaigua VA
  • Batavia VA
  • Veterans Day Treatment Center
  • Associate Vietnam Veterans of America
  • Cub Scout Troup 148
  • Ira Jacobson Post
  • Edison Tech Junior ROTC
  • Operation Welcome Home
  • Rochester Outpatient Clinic
  • Annual Ride to the Dakota Grill fundraiser

The Community Service budget allocates funds for food basket deliveries during the major Holiday seasons to our deprived veterans. An annual "Share The Warmth" clothing handout aids our homeless veterans, and at risk citizens of our community. Funding allows us to assemble, and ship Care packages to a pre-selected military unit on active duty in Iraq. The Canandaigua VA, and Batavia Vets Home receive donations throughout the year from us to help purchase phone cards, audiovisual equipment, or conduct recreational events not funded by the VA. Several board members are active volunteers at the Canandaigua VA. Donations to the Pirate Toy Fund ensure that children admitted to local hospitals, or shelters, or have experienced a disaster such as a fire, have a toy to keep them company during their traumatic experience.
