St. Martin's Boxing Club was founded in 1964 out of concern for inner city youth during a period of social unrest. They are dedicated to reducing juvenile social problems and improving the life prospects of economically disadvantaged youth in Rochester by taking them away from the destructive activities of the streets and exposing them to positive role models. It is their goal to instill the traits of self-confidence, a good work ethic, respect for others, good sportsmanship, self-motivation, discipline and self-control. These traits will serve them well the rest of their lives.

St. Martin's has sponsored the NYS Silver Gloves Tournament since 1982. They also sponsor the Region I Championship, comprised of boxers from NY, NJ, CT, and all of New England. The Rochester winners are transported to the National tournament which is held in Lenexa, KA. The cost of the tournament, including travel, is approximately $3900.

VVA Chapter 20 has contributed $500 to this organization in 2004 and approximately $5000 in total.
