Donation Requirements

Section 174-b, subdivision 1 of Article 7-A of the Executive Law states that the charitable organization's annual report is available by writing to or going to:

The purpose of Vietnam Veterans of America is:

To help foster, encourage, and promote the improvement of the condition of the Vietnam Era Veteran.

To eliminate discrimination suffered by Vietnam veterans.

To maximize self-realization, enrichment of their lives, and enhance life-fulfillment.

Vietnam Veterans of America provides veterans service counseling to help with problems regarding V.A. and education benefits and discharge upgrades. In addition, individual and family counseling is available through our affiliation with the Veterans Outreach Center. The VVA Chapter 20 also supports the VA Vet Center, the day treatment center and the Batavia and Canandaigua VA hospitals.

DONATIONS/CONTRIBUTIONS DONATED TO THE VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Receipt will be dated, with the actual date of pick-up.

     
  2. The current market value placed upon the donation is the RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DONOR.
    (Current value = the dollar amount the donation would bring the donor through the sale of the item/items through a garage sale, local paper, or flea market.

     
  3. Retain a copy of itemized listing for your own records. Receipts categorized as follows:

     
    • One-time donation exceeding $250.00
       
    • Donor needs to MAIL itemized listing with name, address, and date of pick-tip to:

    • Authorized letter mailed to donor within 7 to 10 business days. Attach copy of itemized listing for record keeping.
       
    • One-time donation less -than $250.00:
       
    • Pre-signed receipt given at time of pick-up. Attach copy of itemized listing for record keeping.
